So, "what is an Aioli Sauce exactly?" I hadn't known exactly what it was until quite recently. I've had it before, many several times before, but the only primary concern I had initially was if it contained dairy - lactose intolerance.
As I've gathered, Aioli is an emulsified sauce (having a consistency like mayonnaise) usually with garlic, egg yolk, salt, and olive oil as the main ingredients, that is Mediterranenan in origin. The sky's the limit with the number of variations I've seen with a cursory search of the internet, may of which uses mayonnaise a base. Our jerk aioli sauce version has only, well technically three ingredients and is relatively easy to make.
Directions: Whisk the ingredients in a bowl or blender then serve as a dip or sauce. Start with slightly less ingredients and adjust taste as needed.
Aioli goes well with a variety of food preparations such as:
- Raw vegetables (beets, carrots, celery, cauliflower, zucchini, tomatoes, etc.), roasted vegetables, seafood (fish, shrimp), meats (lamb, beef, chicken, eggs, etc.), sandwiches & burgers), etc.
